Lee Bean, Idaho First National Bank Ron Frederickson, H ~ K Trucking, Salt Lake City, Utah Jim Wrigley, First Security Bank The pledge of allegiance to the flag was directed by Mayor Ard, and the invocation was offered by Councilman Maeser. ~layor Ard opened the Public Hearing on the application of lUes Trust (Henee Ries Doiron and Berna Dean Ries Olsen) for a Special Use Permit to operate the Mansion House, a consignment handmade gift and craft shop, at 3510 Samuel Street, now zoned R-l. Ginny Armstrong, store operator, and Berna Dean Olsen, property owner, were sworn in to present testimony. Councilman Maeser pointed out that the Planning and Zoning Commission re- commended approval of the Special Use Permit on condition the sign be "brought into compliance with the R-I zone home business regulations" and off-street parking be arranged. The Council asked the applicants to explain about their business sign and their parking plans. No one from the Mansion House was present at the Planning and Zoning meeting when their application was discussed. The business has two signs, one affixed to the house and one on the lawn. The City code was searched for sign requirements, and it was determined there were no requirements regarding signs under Special Use Permits. However, home occupation permit requirements specify a size for a sign, but the Council ruled the Mansion House is not a home occupation. . Parking is minimal except in the fall when they hold an open house. Suit- able arrangements have been worked out with Wards across the street, and the driveway will accommodate four to six cars. One parking problem, the u.O.E. site workers park on the corner, and it appears they are Mansion House customers. The house has been and will be maintained to resemble ~
