07.12.2023 Traffic Commission MinutesMinutes Traffic Commission Wednesday, July 12, 2023 Call to Order: Micah Austin, City Administrator at 9:05 a.m. In Attendance: Micah Austin, Tracy Bono, Cindy Donovan, Clarissa Mueller Excused: Sgt Kyle Fielding Minutes: Motion to continue minutes to the August 9, 2023 meeting. Motion passed Citizens’ Requests: Signs at Thunder Dr/Tawzer Way-Street signs are missing from the post. Street Division Updates: Ammon Road is on track for next week. Signs are being worked on. Parking sign and bike lane signage on Judy. No Parking signs on Taylorview Ln to 25TH East (Hitt Road) Action Items: Bridgewater wants more safety signage-Speeding is an issue. The county trailer will be put. Notify Kaley Lindsay HOA president of results. Get trailer and put a 25 mph sign coming off of Lincoln Road. No action taken at this time. Have local residents use a coded gate instead of closing the Eagle St bridge-It is not an option. We can’t limit access on a public street. What other measures can we take? We will not close the bridge. Comments and Suggestions: Leslie Folsom, 2715 Sawtooth-Two-way over the bridge. One Way for that section between Salmon Street and Sawtooth Street. People do look at the signs. Phyllis Kerr, 1810 Dove Drive-Agrees with Leslie Folsom. Have schools handle problem of the parking of their students and open up the dirt road. Make intersection at Derrald Drive a No Right Turn. Misty Stubb, 2830 Salmon Street.- Increasing traffic on to Salmon isn’t a good solution with all the kids. Jed Stanger, 2015 Eagle Drive – One-way street on Eagle Drive going south would be the best option. Kenneth Lembrich, 2640 Salmon Street -Putting a dip in is a better idea than putting in a hump. Keep the bridge open. Vida McColam at 1950 Eagle Drive-Speed is tremendous and dangerous. Something has to be done. Susan Blakely, not a current resident-Get enforcement to write a bunch of tickets. It has worked in the past for speeding and running Stop signs. Shannon Jenkins, 2080 Eagle Drive -South bound one-way would be a good idea if that is what they are left with and wants more enforcement. This is about safety! Before convenience or road damage it is about safety! Teresa Fortner,1815 Curlew Drive-Concerned about coming off 17th Street to Curlew Drive. Both ends of Curlew Drive need to be considered. Patty Fielding, 1935 Bittern Drive- Put speed dips. Make very clear signs and have No Truck signs larger. Lots of signs. Agrees with other residents. Some in favor of one-way streets. Deter and defer traffic. Last resort is closing the bridge. Kari Merrill, 2725 Sawtooth Street – Big fan of one way on Eagle Drive. Fan of speed bumps. They make temporary ones that can bolt in and take them out when plowing starts. Micah explained we will do the most for the most amount of people. Tracy asked if there is any reason why he can’t implement temporary speed bumps and signage? Residents liked that solution to start with. Tracy will look into the temporary speed bumps. Commission is in favor of a one-way bridge and go all out with signage. Commission is not ready for a motion. Put back on for next meeting. Discussion Items: Mayor-More applicable signage before closing the bridge - It was previously discussed.
