08.11..2021 Traffic Commission MinutesMinutes Traffic Commission Wednesday, August 11, 2021 Call to Order: Micah Austin, City Administrator In Attendance: T. Bono, C. Donovan, C. Mueller. K. Banda and M. Stewart were also in attendance. Minutes: July 14, 2021-Approved Citizens’ Requests: STOP signs on Sunnyside for speed control -Stop signs are not used for speed control. Will request more patrols from the deputies. Street Division Updates: T. Bono- Working on Rawson Action Items: Stop signs at Boulder Creek-Continue with next item. Data collection on Salmon St. regarding the traffic problem on Eagle Dr. Fire Department’s thoughts on blocking off the bridge. Recommendation for Council. – M. Stewart reported the data. Of the 4071 vehicles entering the neighborhood only a small portion would be residents. Data will be collected at 17th/Curlew. K. Banda with the Fire Dept. said operationally there is no problem with blocking off the bridge. Recommendation for Council is a temporary closure and then evaluate the data. Motion carried. Evaluate Effectiveness of Removing Stop Signs and Geneva/Ross-Multiple residents that live on Ross near that intersection were in attendance. They wanted to know why they were taken down and strongly disagree with having the Stop signs removed. They cited many safety hazards, dangerous conditions and issues that they think have been made much worse. Speeding was a major concern. They feel very strongly about putting them back up. Discussion ensued. T. Bono will look into putting in sidewalks and will do a speed study. C. Donovan thinks a speed trailer needs to be out. M. Stewart will go back out for more data collection after school starts. C. Mueller will contact Sgt. Fielding about the speeding issues. All agree the common goal is to keep people safe. Motion to continue to evaluate the effectiveness of having removed them and to gather more data. Motion carried. Place speed trailer in the vicinity of Geneva/Ross-T. Bono will determine where to put it and it will be there within the next 2 weeks. Motion carried. Signage on Aspen St.- Put up a Yield sign. Motion carried. Updates: Speed limit signs for Dry Creek/Crowley, 49th/Thunder, Millcreek/49th-Done Electronic speed sign on Judy-In progress Standards for speed limit signs in the Tawzer area -There is currently no standard. A standard could be made and then put in the City’s regulations. City-wide signage updates and corrections – Berguson has to go through Council to change the spelling. Sage Hen Drive should be Sage Hen Lane. K. Banda reported that signs are lacking in Quail Ridge. Discussion Items: Four-way stop at Tie Breaker/John Adams –Traffic backs up and blocks driveways on Katie Ct. That causes problems with emergency services. White Pine school wants a Stop sign at John Adams/Tie Breaker. The city engineer will not permit cars lining up. Discussion ensued. White Pine must get it solved. C.
