Council Minutes 08/20/1975 (2) 13t Regarding the 17th Stre.et Project, it was noted that the bid should be let in the near future, but the paving work will not be started this year so the contractor that gets the bid will q,ave to maintain the road for travel as it is all winter long. Councilman Swensen mentioned that a copy of a letter regarding removal of Ammon from the flood -prone area has been received, and official action to eliminate the re- quirement to obtain flood insurance when homes are bought is expected shortly. According to Councilman Cheney, there are some Scout Troops interested in pi ;king rocks off McCowin Park where grass is to be planted. A suggestion was made that Theron Beck of the Western Baseball League be contacted to see if some help is available on this project fr.om that organization. I With reference to the motion made in the meeting of July 22, 1975, setting a deadline of November I, 1975, for sewer hookups to be completed, Mayor Turnbow noted that several inquiries have been made about whether there would be any granting of exten- sions for any individuals. The Council members felt that .no extensions should be given. Property Owners with financial problems should be encouraged to 100k into obtaining Title 1. loans for home improvements. Mayor_ Turnbow reminded the Council that, if actio~ is'to be taken on raising salaries for City Officials, it must be done 60 days before election. Anderson as acting Chairman of the City Council, with the following City Officials present: Councilman Marvin J. Anderson Clerk Deon Hemingway Councilman Brent Hirschi Attorney W. Joe Anderson Councilman Gerald B. Cheney Engineer David E. Benton (Mayor Keith C. Turnbow and Councilman Russell N. Swensen were out-of-town. ) Others present during the meeting were Doward Kopp, Ton Infanger, Rodney Ragan, and Roland Romrel!. Prayer was offered by Councilman Anderson. Minutes of the meeting of Aug. 6, 1975, were approved as typed. I Prior to the opening of the meeting, Mr. Kopp of the local American Legion. post explained the programs which are sponsored by the organization for which funds are needed. He noted that circumstances had prevented the Post from having the dances at the tennis courts during June and July as planned, and requested that a change be made in the decision made by motion of the Council on April 16, 1975, and allow a !..ennis court dance on August 3D, 1975. During the official meeting, Councilman Anderson made a motion to this effect, which was, seconded by Councilman Cheney. Voting .was all in favor; motion carried. Attorney Anderson presented a resolution for issuing Interim Warrant No.1 on L.1. D. #7 in the iimount of $23,248 for payment of Hartwell Excavating Company billing for work done on waterline on 17th Street. A motion to adopt the resolution was made by Councilman Hirschi and seconded by Councilman Anderson; voting was all in favor; motion carried. On the matter of enacting an ordinance to increase the salaries of elected officials; Attorney Anderson recommended waiting until the Mayor and a full Council were
