After everyone had been welcomed by Councilman Swensen and introductions had
been made, the meeting was turned to Mr. Hurst of HUD who asked Larry Perkins
to direct the busines s.
Inquirtt!> and comments were invited from the representatives of the utility companies.
Utah Power & Light Co. needs a set of plans and will work with the contractors in
moving poles if necessary. Mountain Bell representatives received prints recently,
but are nftS yet familiar with them. In response to a question about shoring of
trenches, they were advised that contractors must meet safety standards and trenches
will be shored or caged. Assurance was given that preliminary planning has tried
to eliminate as much as possible interference with telephone poles and buried cables
so the telephone company should not be called upon excessively for relocating and
repairing lines. The Intermountain Gas Company men requested all possible
nttice when construction will be in the vicinity of gas lines, and would like to try
to work a day ahead rather than on an emergency or way ahead.
Mr. Hansen of the Department of Labor advised the contractors that he would like
to receive a copy of wage rates monthly. Two copies of certified payrolls are to
be supplied to the City.
