03.13.2024 MinutesMinutes Traffic Commission Wednesday, March 13, 2024 Call to Order: Micah Austin, City Administrator - 9:07am Attendance: Kyle, Clarissa, Micah, Cindy, Morgan, Tracy Minutes: February 14, 2024 m/s Cindy/Clarissa to approve Citizens' Requests: Wally Stewart, owner of Wally's, was present to discuss no parking along Midway Ave. Micah noted that the commission had discussed this previously and Mr. Stewart would like to comment and ask the commission to overturn. Wally - Completed cars are parked on Midway for ease of departure by customers. Vehicles being parked there are not overnight and are not "junk cars" they are all customer cars. He sees parking in other areas and other narrow streets. Plowing will make other unwanted issues. Wally is confused why it is suddenly a problem when it's been happening for a long time. He is currently parking cars in neighboring business lots and has resulted in many accidents recently. Commission discussed concerns with overnight parking and lengthy parking. Many entrances make line of sight concerns. Must be enforced equally in all areas. Kyle and Clarissa expressed concern over making exceptions for Wally's employees only. They want to continue to work with Wally on the situation. The Commission will continue to consider the situation. Street Division Updates: Pothole work, sealing cracks. Catching up on fall projects. Snow blower is out of commission, center lanes have not been cleared. Action Items 1. Restriping on Derrald Ave at the 25th E intersection Idaho Falls - 25th E restriping request to adjust lanes to ease congestion. Would split the right turn and through lane into two separate lanes. m/s Kyle/Tracy to approve change CITYOF /%�'�^ Yimmon South 2135 Ammon Road, Ammon, Idaho 83406 Discussion Items: Tracy - Georgia Ln email regarding snow Cindy - Brandon Swanner called, lives on 47th/ 17th and is concerned about 17th connection to the Villas. Concerned about traffic. Cindy will continue the conversation with him. Clarissa - D93 asked about tree limb hitting buses on Salmon, Tyler is handling it. Gem Prep — general discussion regarding traffic concerns, public hearing was held before the City Council on March 7, they have requested a traffic study to be reviewed.
