Minutes
Traffic Commission
Wednesday, July 10, 2024
Call to Order: Micah Austin, City Administrator at 9:07am
In attendance: Kyle. Clarissa, Micah, Tracy
Minutes: June's minutes will be presented in August
Citizen's Requests:
1. Micah went around the room to let everyone bring up concerns
a. Jeff Fullmer asked about bike lanes on the new John Adams Rd. Tracy
Bono explained the lanes were there but the symbols were not there yet.
b. Kris Oswald brought up that the stop sign at 21st St/Crowley Rd is
causing the traffic to get backed up. Tracy Bono added that a traffic
study had been done recently and it did not warrant a light and that
upcoming developments will help with congestion at that intersection.
c. Kristina Buchan had a resident comment that cars had been cutting
through the business lot on the corner of Ammon Rd/Sunnyside.
Street Division Updates:
1. Tracy said that they had received their speed trailer and would start deploying
it throughout the City.
2. Micah asked about the Walmart drain on Curlew Dr that had been causing
issues. Walmart has done some repair and put a plate over the drain for a short
period. Repairs are to be completed today, July 10, after which Streets can
complete asphalt.
Action Items:
1. Crosswalk at Ross Ave/E Sunnyside Rd
Discussion: It is not a good place for a crosswalk and the infrastructure doesn't
exist to warrant it. There aren't sidewalks in neighborhoods or on Sunnyside Rd
and with the expansion of Sunnyside Rd to a five lane road it would be too
dangerous.
m/s: Bono/Jones to deny the request for a sidewalk based on lack of
infrastructure in the area and plans to expand the road.

Discussion Items:
1. Is an additional speed limit sign near 5956 Dry Ridge Ln warranted?Speed
limits throughout the City are 25 unless otherwise posted, City generally does
not place speed limit signs in neighborhoods. Tracy added that he could use the
new speed limit trailer to study the area to see if it is warranted.
2. Officer Jones asked about the missing street sign on Wildwood and 17th. She
added that it looked like the mounts were there but no sign.
3. Jeff Fullmer added that the Tie Breaker neighborhood signs go back and forth
from one word to two words. He suggested that as the signs are replaced they
should be consistent. The street signs should be Tie Breaker. The school is
Tiebreaker Elementary.
m/s Jones/Fielding to adjourn at 9:33am
