07.10.2024 Minuteson South 2135 Ammon Road, Ammon, Idaho 83406 Minutes Traffic Commission Wednesday, July 10, 2024 Call to Order: Micah Austin, City Administrator at 9:07am In attendance: Kyle. Clarissa, Micah, Tracy Minutes: June's minutes will be presented in August Citizen's Requests: 1. Micah went around the room to let everyone bring up concerns a. Jeff Fullmer asked about bike lanes on the new John Adams Rd. Tracy Bono explained the lanes were there but the symbols were not there yet. b. Kris Oswald brought up that the stop sign at 21st St/Crowley Rd is causing the traffic to get backed up. Tracy Bono added that a traffic study had been done recently and it did not warrant a light and that upcoming developments will help with congestion at that intersection. c. Kristina Buchan had a resident comment that cars had been cutting through the business lot on the corner of Ammon Rd/Sunnyside. Street Division Updates: 1. Tracy said that they had received their speed trailer and would start deploying it throughout the City. 2. Micah asked about the Walmart drain on Curlew Dr that had been causing issues. Walmart has done some repair and put a plate over the drain for a short period. Repairs are to be completed today, July 10, after which Streets can complete asphalt. Action Items: 1. Crosswalk at Ross Ave/E Sunnyside Rd Discussion: It is not a good place for a crosswalk and the infrastructure doesn't exist to warrant it. There aren't sidewalks in neighborhoods or on Sunnyside Rd and with the expansion of Sunnyside Rd to a five lane road it would be too dangerous. m/s: Bono/Jones to deny the request for a sidewalk based on lack of infrastructure in the area and plans to expand the road. hC1TWhon ` �� South 2135 Ammon Road, Ammon, Idaho 834o6 Discussion Items: 1. Is an additional speed limit sign near 5956 Dry Ridge Ln warranted?Speed limits throughout the City are 25 unless otherwise posted, City generally does not place speed limit signs in neighborhoods. Tracy added that he could use the new speed limit trailer to study the area to see if it is warranted. 2. Officer Jones asked about the missing street sign on Wildwood and 17th. She added that it looked like the mounts were there but no sign. 3. Jeff Fullmer added that the Tie Breaker neighborhood signs go back and forth from one word to two words. He suggested that as the signs are replaced they should be consistent. The street signs should be Tie Breaker.
