Council Minutes 05/23/1985 I '" '" (Y) (!J <t <X I I May 23, 1985 CITY OF AMMON May 23, 1985 295 Minutes of a Special Meeting of the Mayor and City Council: The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor RussellN..Swensen with the following City Officials present: Mayor Russell N. Swensen Deputy City Clerk Aleen C.Jensen Councilman Thayle D. Monson Public Works Director Hayse L. Whiteley Councilman Robert D. Williamson Councilman Merle J. Quigley Councilwoman Carol A. Dille The pledge of allegiance to the flag was directed by Councilman Williamson and prayer was offered by Councilman Monson. The purpose of the meeting was to open sealed bids for supplying one (1) used pumper type fire truck, with specifications as published in the newspaper on May 8 and May 15, 1985. Proposals were received as follows: L. N. Curtis & Sons, 1195 So. 3rd West, Salt Lake City, Utah 83104 -- 1967 International American LaFrance Pionee~ - $25,000 (available in 45 to 60 days) Desi's Used Fire Equipment, 6645 Lake View Drive, Roseville, California 95678 -- 1963 G.M.C., Van Pelt - $17,000 1954 G.M.C., Van Pelt - $ 7,000 1968 G.M.C., Van Pelt - $25,000 1961 International, Howe - $10,000 1960 International, Coast - $19,500 (with equipment $20,337) It was noted that the Ford, LaFrance fire truck which had been available at Fire Control Northwest, Inc., in Bellevue, Washington, has been sold so it cannot be considered in the bidding. Councilman Williamson moved to accept the bid of L. N. Curtis & Sons for a 1967 American LaFrance Pioneer as quoted, with the stipulation that delivery is firm in no more than 45 days, and that a request be made for another piece of fire fighting apparatus to use in the interim at no cost. The motion was seconded by Councilman Monson; roll call vote was Williamson yes, Monson yes, Quigley yes, Dille yes; motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Williamson and seconded by Councilwoman Dille that Hayse Whiteley, Public Works Director, find out the location of this truck and arrange to make an inspection within a week; voting was unanimous in favor; motion carried. Another matter of business was a motion by Councilwoman Dille to authorize Mayor Swensen to be Ammon's voting delegate and Councilman Quigley to be the alternate at the Annual Conference of the Association of Idaho Cities ccming up in June. Jensen. CITY OF AMMON June 6, 1985 Minutes of the Regular Meeting of The meeting was called to order at following City Officials present: Mayor Russell N. Swensen Councilwoman Carol A. Dille Councilman Robert D. Williamson Councilman Merle J. Quigley Councilman Thayle D. Monson Others present during the meeting were Orin Searle, Horace and Theone Smith, and Sharel Judy. The pledge of allegiance to the flag was directed by Councilwoman Dille and the invoca- tion was given by Mayor Swensen. In response to an inquiry presented by Orin Searle of 3055 Teton Street regarding the possibility of purchasing a portion of City land to the north of his property on which to construct a garage for his recreational vehicles, it was agreed that he should meet with the City Engineer to see if some recommendations could be made to meet Mr. Searle's needs without involving City property. Theone Smith of 2150 Ammon Road said that, according to information received from her attorney regarding the McQuillen log house case, the court will be issuing an order to have the building moved. She asked if the City could give notice on the date that the house must be moved since she understood that the court order does not mention a time the Mayor and City Council: 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Russell N.
