Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Mayor and City Council:
The meeting was called to order at 8:05 P.M. by Mayor Russell N. Swensen, with the
following City Officials present:

Councilman Merle J. Quigley
Councilman Thayle D. Monson
Absent:

Public Works Director Hayse
Attorney W. Joe Anderson
Engineer David E. Benton
Councilwoman Carol A.Dille

The pledge of allegiance to the flag was directed by Councilman Quigley and prayer was
offered by Mayor Swensen.
It was moved by Councilman Monson and seconded by Councilman Quigley that the minutes
for the meetings on September 20, 1984, and October 4, 1984, be approved as prepared;
voting was all in favor; motion carried.
According to Councilman Quigley, officials of the Boy Scouts have requested permission
to use the north part of McCowin Park for a pre-jamboree training rendezvous on June 14
and 15 and to reserve the swimming pool for the morning of June 15. It was agreed that
this arrangement would be satisfactory.
A report by the Public Works Director referred to snow removal efforts and the amount of
sanding materials on hand.
Mayor Swensen expressed appreciation for the good work being done by the employees on
snowplowing and mentioned that his goals for the coming year include the purchase of
an additional fire truck and keeping the weeds cut down along streets and on vacant
lots.
Claims to pay in the amount of $4,411.50 and vouchers for payroll expenditures since
the previous meeting totaling $1,884.69 were approved.
A motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Quigley and seconded by Councilman Monson
with voting all in favor; adjournment was at 8:45 P.M.

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Mayor Russell N. Swensen with the
following City Officials present:

Others present during the meeting were Patricia J. Vandewiele, Iona; Cherlyn Ragan,
2795 Salmon Street; David and Ronald Mihu, 3760 Wanda Street; Jim Holm, 2720 Ross
Avenue; and Debbie Clapp, 2210 Dove Drive.
The pledge of allegiance to the flag was directed by Councilwoman Dille and the invo-
cation was offered by Councilman Monson.
Minutes of the meeting on October 18, 1984, were approved with a motion by Councilman
Monson, a second by Councilwoman Dille, and voting all in favor.
Mayor Swensen presented a message in which he reviewed the accomplishments of the City I
during the past calendar year and expressed appreciation for all of the people who are
connected with the City business. He listed items which he hoped would be accomplished
this year, such as working on a building for the Volunteer Fire Department with the
purchase of another fire truck having top priority, improving the streets, controlling
the weed problem, maintaining the recreation facilities in good. condition, continuing
to intervene in Utah Power & Light Company rate cases, starting on plans to widen
Ammon Road, and finalizing the purchase of a computer for the City office. He read a
special thought on prayer and stated that he was grateful for the precedent set in the
past to ask for guidance in directing the affairs of the City at the opening of each
Council meeting.
The Audit Report for Fiscal Year 1984 was reviewed by Walter Clapp from the firm of
Galusha, Higgins and Galusha, and he commented that the City's financial position has
improved substantially in the past three years. The Council members agreed that the
Audit Report should be accepted.
