The meet:img was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Acting Mayor Russell N. Sw'ensen, with
the following City Officials present:
Acting Mayor Russell N. Sw-ensen Deputy"City Clerk Aleen Jensen
Councilwoman Carol A. Dille Public Works Director Hayse L. Whiteley
Councilman Robert D. Williamson Engineer David E. Benton
Councilman-elect Merle J. Quigley
Others present during the meeting were Marian Webb, 2990 Talmage st., and Scouts Brad
Webb, Keith Fell, and Shane Brown. I
The pledge of allegiance to the flag was directed by Acting Mayor Swensen and the invo-
cation was offered by Councilman Williamson. Minutes of the meeting on October 6, 1983,
were approved as prepared. The Scouts were welcomed by Acting Mayor Sw'ensen.
The Annual Certification of the Street Finance Report for Fiscal Year 1983 was reviewed,
and a motion was made by Councilwoman Dille that the report be approved. The motion
was seconded by Councilman Williamson; voting was unanimous in favor; motion carried.
Matters pertaining to the Bonneville Fire Protection District, as mentioned in the two
previous meetings, were discussed again. Councilman Williamson noted that the Fire
District representatives have met with officials of the citie:::; of Ucon and Iona, and
reports indicate that Ucon is not in favor of joining the District, while the feeling
from Iona is some for and some against the proposal. A combined meeting of the three
cities with the Fire Dist~ict was still fe~~ to be advisable.
In response to information presented by Councilman Williamson, it was agreed that the
City will work with the members of the Ammon Lions Club to prepare some ice skating
rinks when conditions are suitable.
Hayse Whiteley reported on public works matters concerning a fire hydrant on Maiben
Avenue, the City water system, and street patching work.
A report by Acting Mayor Swensen informed the Council about the public hearing held on
November 9th in connection with the Bonneville County Comprehensive Plan Map which he
attended along with City Engineer David Benton and Planning Commission members Gary
Butterw'orth and Wayne Harding. It was pointed out that ,the public was w'ell represented
at the hearing and that it was recessed until December 14th to allow more time for I
input. According to Engineer Benton, if the map as prepared by the new' County Planner
w'ere to be adopted, it would be in conflict with the growth areas that were intended
to be served by the Iona-Bonneville Sewer District. Concern was expressed that the
City of Ammon had not been given an opportnnity to review the plan before it was
presented at a public hearing, and it was mentioned that Ammon Planning Commission
Chairman Gary Butterworth was effective in explaining to the County Planner that the
Cityof"Ammon wants to cooperate and work together with the County on planning matters.
Approval was given on claims to pay in the amount of $14,237.68 and claims for expenses
paid since the previous meeting totaling $10,1]4.24.
It was moved by Councilwoman Dille and seconded by Councilman Williamson that the
meeting adjourn; voting was all in favor; the meeting was .adjourned.
