Call to Order: Micah Austin, City Administrator-9:05 a.m.
Minutes: April 13, 2022- Approved
In Attendance: Micah Austin, Tracy Bono, Cindy Donovan, Clarissa Mueller, Sgt. Fielding
Citizens’ Requests:
Crosswalk on 1st St near Tiebreaker Elementary-J. Hale residing in the Fox Hollow subdivision- He feels it is extremely dangerous and it is only going to get worse. His solutions include
putting a crosswalk near the entrance of Fox Hollow to the school. He also wants a school zone with flashing lights. We will discuss it again in June.
H. Boyle residing on Marsala Ct.-She is following up on the Jan. meeting she attended regarding crosswalks at 21st Street/Castelli, a rapid flashing beacon for the crosswalk, extending
the school zone to 47th, and only having a bike lane instead of a sidewalk or walking path despite the contract stating there would be one. She and her neighbors feel strongly that
the contract needs to be honored and a sidewalk/bike path put in. The bike lane is too dangerous to walk in a 40-mph zone. M. Austin explained there isn’t enough room for a walking
path. We will look into other options to clearly delineate and separate the bike lane from the roadway. The crosswalk needs repainted and another one was going to be put in as well
as other safety measures. C. Donovan will let her know the painting schedule. Concerning the rapid flashing beacon for the crosswalk, we are working on a letter to submit to FHWA. It
is cost prohibitive to put in however.
A resident contacted M. Stewart with concerns about the Stop signs being swapped on Founders Pointe. She stated they are inefficient and less safe. The commission agreed that since they
have been moved it is safer and overall much better.
Street Division Updates: T. Bono-Citywide striping is complete. Working on street sweeping and fixing potholes.
Action Items:
None at this time
Updates:
Data collection for traffic issues on Chasewood/Curlew and Chasewood/Tie Breaker-Morgan reported that Chasewood/Curlew warrants a 4-way stop. Everyone agreed. It will be an action item
in June. Wait until the 4-way stop is in place before doing the same study at Chasewood/Tie Breaker. Then get data from Chasewood/Midway.
School Zone on Owen-Haven’t been able to collect data yet.
Discussion Items:
Crosswalk at Match Point/Tie Breaker-Crosswalks are hand painted and have to be done when it is warm. When the company can get us scheduled and weather warms up the crosswalks will be
done.
Eagle/Derrald-It is currently a 2 way stop. A traffic study needs done to see if it warrants a 4 way stop. Ideally a roundabout would be put in.
Eagle/Salmon-M. Stewart did a new traffic count. There are approximately 4100 cars a day. The traffic only signs have not been effective. The council will be informed it has not worked.
We will work on a design for 1-way streets, take another vote and then get Council’s direction on it. It will be an Action Item in June.
Adjourned: 9:46 a.m.
