Council Minutes 04/20/1970 233 I rneetingto consider the subject of "AMMON DA YS" as the only item on the agenda, taking about one to one and a half hours. It was de cide d to hold this meeting on March 30, 1970 at 8:00 P.M. The subject of employ- ing a Deputy City Clerk was discussed, with Jesse E. Bunnell remaining as the City Clerk while on sick leave. A motion was made by C. Richard- son, that the Council authorize the Mayor to obtain applications for a De- puty City Clerk, to assist in the City office. Details of salary to be worked out upon receipt of applications. Upon a roll call vote the following vote was recorded. Voting aye, were C. Anderson, C. Richardson, and C. Turnbow. Voting Nay, were none. Monthly bills were reviewed and approved. Councilman Russell N. Swensen arrived at 11:30 P. M. Meeting adjourned at 11:45 P. The meeting commenced at 7:40 P. M. I Present: Mayor Thomas D. Kershaw, Councilman Marvin J. Anderson, Councilman Lynn C. Richardson, Councilman Keith Turnbow, Councilman Russell N. Swensen, Maintenance Supervisors LaVern Williams and Norman Baker, City Attorney W. J. Anderson. City Engineer David E. Benton arrived 8:40 P. M. Invocation by Russell N. Swensen. I Mayor Thomas D. Kershaw read the minutes of the meeting held March 16, 1970. They were corrected as follows: "playground equip- ment" was stricken from the JDUlIlutes. They were approved as corrected. Mr. Ted Kennedy requested permission to hook onto the City Water Line on South Ross Avenue for and in behalf of Dale Arave. A discussion followed. City Engineer David E. Benton informed the Council that there are 15 homes on the present line. It is proposed to add an additional 7. homes. Councilman Turnbow moved that we take Mr. Kennedy's proposal under advisement and notify him as to the results by April 27, Seconded by Councilrnlan Anderson. Voting: Anderson, yes; Thrnbow, yes;; Richardson,' yes; Swensen, yes. Mution carried. At 8:40 ip. M. Maiben Jones met with the Council in regards to his property on !Central Avenue. Mr. Jones has a problem on watering due to the destnltction of his ditch. Councilman Turnbow moved that the City furnish: and install a headgate on the city ditch on the south side of Molen Street and do the transit work to bring the ditch to grade. Mr. Maiben Jonejs will then be responsible for developing the ditch. Seconded by Councilman Anderson. Voting: Anderson, yes; Turnbow, yes; Richardson, yes; Swensen, yes. Motion carried. Councilman Richardson moved that we hire Mrs. Deon Hemingway as City Clerk starting as soon as possible at a beginning salary of $325.00 per month with said salary to be reviewed in six months. Seconded by Councilman Turnbow. Voting: Anderson, yes; Turnbow, yes; Richardson, yes; Swensen, yes. Motion carried. A The Council gave LaVern Williams permission to check with Mr. :8UJ. Hill in regards to connecting onto the City water on Aspen Lane. Mayor Kershaw reported that arrangements were made with Jack Ellingford to clean the irrigation ditch north of 17th St. and east of Sand Creek. Mayor Kershaw announced that material for the Newsletter is due Wednesday evening. tSZ
