Council Minutes 06/18/1981 I ~ CD I' o <( <1: I I June 4, 1981 177 Jim McNett,of the Planning and Zoning Commission, asked for comments on the Bike Path Plan for Idaho Falls and vicinity on which the Commission members have recommended approval. He noted that the plan has been approved by the City of Idaho Falls and now goes to the County for public hearing on June 10. He pointed out the location of both temporary and permanent bike paths on the plan and indicated that the temporary path in the Ammon area is to be on Ammon-Lincoln Road as it is widened in the future. The Council members expressed agreement with the plan as presented. J:t was moved by Councilwoman Dille and seconded by Councilman Monson that the Council confirm the appointment of William J. Quapp to the Planning and Zoning Commission to complete the unexpired term of Arthur Frey until March 1, 1984, as recommended by Mayor Wehmann. Voting was all in favor; motion carried. Attendance at the AIC Conference in Boise, June 18-20, was discussed. Councilwoman Dille moved that Mayor Wehmann be designated as voting delegate for Ammon at the AIC Conference. The motion was seconded by Councilman Monson; voting was all in favor; motion carried. A motion was made by Councilman Monson to appoint Councilwoman Dille as alternate voting delegate at the AIC Conference. The motion was seconded by Council- woman Dille; voting was all in favor; motion carried. According to Councilwoman Dille, Shauna Hammond of 3110 Ross Avenue, has inquired about having an event to raise funds for park playgound equipment in Peterson Park on June 27, and it was indicated that there should be no problem with such an activity. Councilman Monson mentioned that the Planning and Zoning Commission had discussed the existence of home occupations in areas where the zpning prohibits businesses, and a recommendation was made that the law be obeyed regarding this situation. Hayse Whiteley, Public Works Director, reported on the repair work being done at the swimming pool, condition of city equipment, street drainage problems, and plans to pro- vide parking space near the ball fields in North McCowin Park. He explained that employee, LaVern Williams, hurt his arm while working to get the pool facilities ready and will be having surgery to get the muscles in his shoulder repaired. The Council members were informed by Mr. Whiteley that he had accompanied Mayor Wehmann to a meeting with Sheriff Ackerman regarding the parking ticket problem, and action should be forth- ' coming on that matter. Claims in the amount of $6,354.94 were presented by the City Clerk and were approved for payment. According to Councilman Swensen, there have been some calls about weeds in the parks which have not been sprayed because of the rainy weather during the past few weeks.
